My Summer Plans

As you may know if you’ve been following this blog for a while, I am completely and utterly obsessed with Germany. I spent all last school year studying in Heidelberg, Germany, then stayed for the summer to work as an Au Pair and youth intern in Hildesheim, Germany. I’ve since continued studying the language this year with my German minor, and my passion for the country and its people has only continued to grow.

So…I’ve decided to return this summer! I will be interning with a church in Frankfurt called MosaikKirche. They work quite a bit with refugees and immigrants in the city as well as children, youth and young adults. I will be partnering with them in all of these areas– teaching basic German and English, preparing sunday school lessons, planning summer events, etc. I can’t wait! My grandpa lives just outside Frankfurt so I will have the chance to see him a few times, as well as to visit my friends in Heidelberg and Hildesheim. But perhaps the part I’m most excited about is that on my flight home I have a two day layover in Iceland! I have always dreamed of exploring this magic little island, and now’s my chance!

I leave May 24th–just three short weeks away! There’s a lot to do between now and then, but I feel so blessed and confident that this is where I’m called to serve this summer. And of course I’ll be blogging through out the whole experience, so stay tuned!

Happy Weekend!

IMG_0437  Big news: Fall has finally arrived in Southern California! Sure, it’s a little tardy to the party, but it’s here none the less. Last Friday it was so windy that the power lines on campus were knocked out and all classes were cancelled! Then on Tuesday, it rained and hailed, an extremely uncommon but extremely welcomed occurrence in the midst of our drought. And the last three days have been chilly and fresh. I couldn’t be more thrilled to bust out my scarf collection and wear the jackets that have been hanging listlessly in my closet, taunting me all year. This weekend is shaping up to be a full one: babysitting tonight, initiation for my sorority tomorrow, and a banquet for my parent’s non-profit organization on Sunday. Oh, and a research paper needs to be written at some point in between! Procrastination is my hobby. What are your plans for the weekend? Is the weather fallish where you live? I’d love to hear. Have a good one friends! IMG_0451IMG_0458IMG_0461IMG_0476IMG_0477IMG_0497IMG_0501IMG_0511

Happy Weekend!

DSC_0331.JPG Hey there friends! I’m sorry it’s been a bit quieter around here this week- my life definitely hasn’t been quiet, that’s for sure! There are seasons where school is all consuming, and others where I have a bit more time on my hands to pursue my passions, like this blog. Hopefully I will have a bit more breathing room next week to whip up some killer posts! In the meantime, enjoy these photos I took last night when I should have been studying :p

DSC_0358.JPGDSC_0396.JPGDSC_0468.JPGWhat are your plans for the weekend? Mine include pumpkin carving, a halloween party at which I will be dressed as Little Red Ridding Hood, and sleep. Lots and lots of sleep. I’ll meet you back here on Monday before we know it!
