On Saturday night, it seemed like half the school gathered on the Malibu Pier for photos before heading off to their respective sorority dances. While I’m no longer in a sorority, I went to take pictures of my many beautified friends and their dates! I was the press for the event, if you will. The sun was just sinking below the waterline and I was desperate to get in as many shots as I could before it disappeared completely. Below are just a few if you’d like to see!^What a beaut^Coincidence that they both wore purple dresses and black chokers? I think sister telepathy is more like it^I was a thorn among roses, as they say^Didn’t get the serious memo…^Dear friends from Heidelberg Meredith and Alli!Hope everyone had fun at their respective dances!
The president of my school has an annual tradition of holding a party at his house (the Brock House) for just the seniors. The soiree is called ‘Rock the Brock’ because his rock band Mid-Life Crisis performs and a giant dance party ensues. They also raffled off prizes, including $5,000 throughout the night, and had a big buffet of food and desserts. You could say I was a happy camper. Even though Pepperdine is a relatively small school, I was surprised at how many unfamiliar faces I encountered last night. Do all these people really go here and I’ve just never met them? Haha I guess so! But I did know quite a few people as well, which was reassuring. I guess I’m not a total recluse. Below are a few photos if you’d like to see!^Our mascot Willie the Wave dancing up a storm^The event started at 6:30- perfect golden light! I can definitely tell fall is in the air, no more endless summer sun.^Two sweet friends, one of which is my buddy in German class^These charming ladies have been there for me since the start of college 😉^My class cleans up nice^Note to self: become university president so I can have a view like this…^Wild children^My OG roommate and long-time friend LauraWell friends, have a great weekend!
Last night was my sorority’s spring formal! I had so much fun getting dressed up, taking pictures, and dancing up a storm. The venue was a club in downtown LA, which was a nice divergence from the usual spots we frequent. My housemate was my hot date (pictured below) and we had a blast together. Hope you’re having a good weekend friends!^Some friends from my group in Heidelberg, Germany.
The rain thumps loudly on the wooden deck
To the beat of nature’s drum, building and building
In a crescendo of clean, wet sound.
It’s cadence reminds me of the tip tapping of dance shoes
On the TV program I watch inside
From my worn-in armchair.
The dancers click their heels loudly on the wooden stage,
Twirling in a clear, concise rhythm
To the beat of bagpipes pouring soft music
Outside on the windowsill.
My time as a dancer echoes in my ear,
How I used to make the rain flow with my agile movements,
Beckoning mother nature to come near.
I would flick my feet swiftly, drenched in sweat,
Determination condensing in thick droplets on my brow.
And just as quickly as it came, the rain leaves.
I switch off the TV and sit back,
With nothing but my memories to drown out the silence.
