I came across this quote the other day while reading one of my favorite blogs. I love the beautiful examples and unique word choice. Maybe it’s just the English nerd in me. What do you think?
It doesn’t make sense to call ourselves ugly, because we don’t really see ourselves. We don’t watch ourselves sleeping in bed, curled up and silent with chests rising and falling with our own rhythm. We don’t see ourselves reading a book, eyes fluttering and glowing. You don’t see yourself looking at someone with love and care inside your heart. There’s no mirror in your way when you’re laughing and smiling and happiness is leaking out of you. You would know exactly how bright and beautiful you are if you saw yourself in the moments where you are truly yourself.

Amen! I’ve often thought of how cool it would be to have a “magic mirror” that ONLY works when someone is laughing. How awesome would that be! Not to mention, a much happier world. Thanks for sharing this quote.
Oh that is so true! We only look at ourselves in the mirror with a critical eye.
Yes, we can’t always see what others see in us!
