Every year I subject myself to sleep depravation and exhaustion in the name of fun! My youth group teams up with our sister church and puts on a lock-in. Basically, we are stuck in a church all night playing games and eating junk food. Technically I was a chaperon this year, but that didn’t stop me from acting like a kid! If you know anything about me, you know I love sleep, so last night was difficult for me. I crashed around 3:30 am, curling up in a little ball in the corner. When I got home at 9 am, I went straight to bed until 4 pm.
At midnight, we saw “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug,” the second installation in J.R.R. Tolkein’s the Hobbit. While I enjoyed the movie, I couldn’t help but feel it was dragged out too long and over animated. It felt like you were inside a video game, not Middle Earth! I appreciated the addition of a female character, the elf Tauriel, because the story originally lacked female influence. I would recommend seeing the movie, but lower your expectations a bit!
